Introduction: this research presents evidence of the relevance of socioemotional skills in team roles within entrepreneurship. It examines the context of Belbin’s team role theory, which identifies nine roles within a team—each requiring specific socioemotional skills to optimize performance. The proper combination of these roles and socioemotional skills promotes team cohesion and efficiency. Objective: to analyze the correlation between Belbin’s team roles and socioemotional skills among entrepreneurship students. Method: the study follows a quantitative approach to analyze the correlation between team roles and socioemotional skills in students enrolled in the course “Entrepreneurship Development.” A Likert-scale questionnaire was used, and inferential statistics were applied through a structural equation modeling (SEM) approach using SPSS and AMOS software. The validity and reliability of the scales were evaluated. Results: the findings reveal that socioemotional skills have no significant impact on team roles in entrepreneurship, highlighting the need to further promote the development of socioemotional skills, as they are crucial for effective teamwork in entrepreneurial contexts. Conclusion: despite the null impact found, the study underscores the importance of strengthening socioemotional skills due to their potential role in enhancing the dynamics and effectiveness of entrepreneurial teams.
