Abstract

Introduction: Cultural diplomacy has established itself as a key instrument in international relations, where literature contributes to the construction of identity and the strengthening of soft power. Rubén Darío's work represents a symbolic reference for Nicaragua. Objective: To analyze the contribution of Rubén Darío's literary work to Nicaragua's cultural diplomacy according to the perceptions of professionals in international relations and Hispanic literature in the year 2025. Method: A qualitative study was developed with a phenomenological approach, using semi-structured interviews with professionals, with content analysis through coding, categorization and triangulation of information. Results: It was identified that Darío's work, especially Azul, Prosas profanas and Cantos de vida y esperanza, constitutes a pillar of cultural diplomacy by projecting a cosmopolitan identity and strengthening the international image of the country, as well as challenges related to the modernization of its dissemination and the risk of dependence on a single figure. Conclusion: his literary production works as an instrument of soft power that favors the cultural positioning of Nicaragua.
