Digital Preservation Policy
Digital Preservation Policy
Universidad & ciencia establishes digital preservation as the responsibility and commitment of all personnel involved in its editorial management. Its policy for carrying it out is governed by:
Storage of digital resources with the utmost care.
Use of preservation strategies such as data rejuvenation, migration, technology preservation and digital archaeology; with the relevant evaluations to verify their effectiveness.
Encapsulation of the preserved information together with descriptive metadata.
Self-documentation based on the coding of the preserved information, without reference to external documentation.
Self-sufficiency to minimize dependencies on systems, data or documentation.
Documentation of the type of content. Universidad & ciencia uses the LOCKSS digital preservation system (http://www.lockss.org/), from Stanford University. This offers open source digital preservation services with the aim of providing and permanently preserving access to the digital content generated through our publication. It also allows digital content to be shared securely.
The magazine's copies are hosted on internal servers belonging to the node of the University of Ciego de Ávila Máximo Gómez Báez.
