Editorial Process
The editorial process of the Revista Universidad & Ciencia is based on a rigorous and structured system that guarantees the quality and validity of the published articles. This process includes double-blind peer review, which ensures the anonymity of both authors and reviewers, promoting an objective and fair evaluation.
Editorial Process
- Manuscript Submission: Authors submit their manuscript through the designated platform. The journal verifies that the work meets the formal and thematic requirements necessary to proceed with the process.
- Preliminary Evaluation: The editorial team conducts an initial review to determine whether the manuscript is suitable for evaluation. If significant deficiencies are found, it may be rejected before peer review.
- Double-Blind Peer Review: Once preliminarily approved, the manuscript is sent to two external reviewers, who evaluate the content without knowing the author's identity. This step is crucial to ensure impartiality in the evaluation, as both authors and reviewers remain anonymous throughout the process.
- Issuance of Judgments: Reviewers issue one of several judgments:
- Accept submission
- Publishable with modifications
- Reevaluable
- Not publishable
- Editorial Decision: The editorial team examines the received opinions and formulates a final decision, which is communicated to the author within a maximum period of 7 days. If modifications are required, the author is granted 15 days to make the necessary corrections.
- Publication: After final acceptance, the manuscript moves to the editing phase, where corrections are made and it is prepared for publication. Authors are notified and may review the galley proofs before the article is finally published.
- Certification and Acknowledgments: Once published, authors receive a publication certificate, and reviewers are recognized for their collaboration through acknowledgment certificates.
This methodical approach not only ensures the quality of the published content but also fosters an environment of trust and respect among researchers, reviewers, and editors, aligning with the best practices in scientific publishing.
