Abstract

This study introduces the AMAE-I, a phenomenological scale for early psychotic risk detection, focusing on incipient schizophrenia in youth. Grounded in clinical-phenomenological models, it aims to enhance emotional literacy and secondary prevention. Content validation involved two expert rounds (3+5 evaluators), assessing clarity, coherence, and relevance via Fleiss’ Kappa (e.g., coherence=0.472). Tested on 93 subjects (66 healthy, 27 with schizophrenia), the AMAE-I discriminated psychotic experiences and identified undiagnosed individuals with time perception, bodily, and visual disturbances, indicating subjective vulnerability. Designed as a clinical/educational tool, its application in school/community settings could enable early detection of subjective abnormalities, supporting preventive interventions. The scale shows promise for identifying at-risk profiles beyond overt psychosis.
