An approximation to the management of cyberbullying confrontation in the university context

Introduction: Cyberbullying is nowadays considered one of the most worrying issues that takes place in the various educational contexts. Objective: To disclose trends in the management of cyberbullying at the university. Method: A qualitative approach with a theory design based on its emerging variant. A theoretical sampling guided the selection of twenty participants and the criterion of representativeness was used for qualitative samples. Fighting cyberbullying was defined as analysis-worthy at the university and semi-structured interviews to managers, specialists of the Welfare Department and leader students in management processes were applied, given the topics identified a priori in the analysis of published scientific literature. The information was processed through content analysis. Results: The study revealed three fundamental codes: psychological and emotional impact, school performance and participation, as well as social relations and isolation. Cyberbullying was addressed as a harmful phenomenon that can cause significant harm to university students, both in the personal and academic spheres. Conclusion: University managers should focus their strategies on prevention in order to ensure the quality of life of students and future professionals.
