Abstract

Introduction: university faculty scientific production is currently a priority topic because institutional trends affecting this indicator have been observed, which highlights the need to carry out a study that positively contributes to developing and making this issue visible. Objective: to explore faculty experiences and the organizational environment in terms of research productivity at a university in Montería, Colombia. Method: a descriptive and comprehensive qualitative study was conducted using semi‑structured interviews; the secondary target population consisted of university faculty. Results: research productivity is not exclusively an individual outcome nor can it be explained solely by a teacher’s motivation, training, or professional trajectory. Conclusion: it is pertinent to continue deepening the study of aspects directly related to this topic, since it is a priority axis for written research; given that science is largely built from such production, promoting organized actions by institutions should be a fundamental task to ensure a higher degree of scientific rigor.
