Permanence of academic staff in Higher Education Institutions: elaboration of a questionnarie

Abstract

The work presented is part of the research entitled Strategy for the permanence of academic staff at the University of Havana. It is a descriptive - analytical and proactive research with a mixed approach and transactional design. Its objective is to argue the process of constructing a questionnaire to measure the permanence of academic staff in Higher Education Institutions, given the need revealed in the analysis of the literature consulted, to have an instrument that allows comprehensive assessment of the permanence of this staff and propose strategies for their intervention. For this, four moments were taken into account: (1) theoretical approach to the permanence variable, which required an analysis of the bibliography and a synthesis of its regularities, to elaborate its conceptual definition; (2) the definition of the dimensions, subdimensions, and indicators based on the proposed definition, with the support of analysis and synthesis; (3) the elaboration of each of the questions and items of the questionnaire that required the analysis of documents and (4) evaluations of the pilot test and fundamental changes in the final questionnaire. The result is an instrument that allows characterizing this phenomenon at the University of Havana.
